Crispy and juicy home-cooked comfort food perfect for any time of the week.
- 1 chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp honey
- 2 cups all-purpose flour for coating
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
Place cut-up chicken, buttermilk and honey in a ziplock bag and let soak for 24 hours ( make sure you put the bag with the chicken in a bowl to avoid any messes )
Mix together your flour, paprika, salt, and pepper and coat chicken well. Let the chicken sit until the flour has absorbed the buttermilk and is paste-like gooey.
Fill a pot to about half fill of oil, and very hot add in your chicken. Don’t overcrowd the pot. Cook until golden brown then turn down the heat, cover, and let cook for 30 min. or so. Once the chicken is cooked threw uncover, turn the heat back up and cook until crispy. Repeat with any uncook chicken you have left and keep the cooked chicken warm in the oven.
