This is our absolute favorite way to cook steak. I’ve been doing it for years now and it’s amazing either seared in a skillet, or even better, grilled over an open fire. I usually make up a large amount of the rub and store in an air tight container to have on hand for other quick meals.
Ingredients:
- 2 Steaks
- Olive oil or butter
- 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon red chili pepper flakes
- 1/2 tablespoon coffee grounds ( I think espresso grounds work the best since they are finer but any coffee will do).
- 1/2 tablespoon granulated garlic
- 1/2 tablespoon paprika
Directions:
Rub the steak thoroughly with olive oil or butter. Next, combine all dry ingredients, creating a rub.
Rub mixture onto the steak and let sit for a bit (I usually do it mid-afternoon and toss it in the fridge until I’m ready to grill).
Sear or grill steak until cooked as desired. I usually make a salad and baked potatoes as sides. Enjoy!
