What makes this recipe the perfect guacamole recipe? A bowl of perfectly ripe avocados with fresh ingredients and just the right combination of seasonings is what makes this recipe the perfect guac.
The one thing you must have for any fajita or taco night is Guacamole! Who doesn’t love yummy Guacamole to throw on top of that taco or fajita! It is the perfect appetizer, dip, side dish, or snack. Sometimes I even just eat Guacamole for lunch!
It took me awhile to find the right seasonings to make my favorite guacamole but I like to think I have found the perfect blend of seasonings.
If you ever order guacamole and have it made table side, there is usually a little bowl of seasonings there on the tray alongside all those freshly diced veggies. That little bowl of seasoning right there is what makes a deliciously perfect guacamole.
When I was a teenager we used to eat at this delicious Mexican restaurant at least once a week. They made the BEST Homemade Guacamole right at your table. I swear their secret was in their seasoning.
I’ll never forget, my Dad used to always ask for a side of the seasoning they used. We would take it home and use it for our homemade guacamole! It was just the perfect mix of spices. I like to think my blend reminds me of it.
Picking out perfect avocados is just the beginning to a perfect guacamole
When picking out your avocados, you want them to be firm, but able to press slightly into the avocado. It should not be hard, too hard is not ripe enough. If you are buying avocados ahead of time (a few days) then hard is the best way to go.
You want the Avocado to give just a bit when you press on it. Another way to tell is to remove the little stem on the bottom. If the Avocado is a pretty green then you are good. Brown or yellowish is not good.
When making your seasoning blend feel free to add to your taste. I have come up with these measurements to get you going. If you are not a garlic lover dial it back. If you love Cumin add more!
Just be sure to test your seasoning before adding it to your guacamole. If it taste good then you know you are good to go. If you need to make some adjustments, then do so.
If you have any leftovers you can squeeze lime or lemon on-top to keep from browning. I have also found that if you put it into a container where air is not hitting the top it will stay green as well (imagine Chipotle filling up that cup then the putting on the lid squeezing it out the side – no air = little to no browning).
